What Is Trataka?
Trataka, or "gazing meditation," is a yogic technique that involves focused concentration on a single point. Traditionally, this is done with a candle flame, but it can also involve gazing at other objects such as a symbol or even your sigil.
How to Practice Trataka:
Prepare your space. Find a quiet, dimly lit room free from distractions. Place a lit candle or object at eye level about 2–3 feet away.
Get comfortable. Sit in a stable position with your spine straight and your body relaxed.
Focus your gaze. Look steadily at the flame (or chosen object) without blinking for as long as possible. Let your vision soften but keep your attention focused.
Close your eyes. When your eyes tire, close them gently and visualize the object in your mind's eye. This enhances concentration and inner clarity.
Repeat. Open your eyes and repeat the process, aiming to extend the duration of your focus over time.
Benefits of Trataka:
Improves concentration and mental clarity.
Calms the mind, aiding meditation and visualization practices.
Enhances the connection between the conscious and subconscious mind, making it a powerful tool for sigil work.
