4 of Cups
This week’s Tarot-Draw is the 4 of Cups.
Hunny? Hunny? What’s going on here? (*asked in drag-voice)
Contemplation, or caught in Analysis-Paralysis? Nah, too ordinary.
A staring contest with an inanimate object? One should generally avoid them.
Why not telekinesis then? No one ever suspects the telekinetic.
Super powers aside, isn’t it odd that you can become so narrowly focused that you lose track of your surroundings?
When you do it on purpose it’s called Pratyahara (sensory withdrawal).
That lays the foundation for diving deeper into the mind.
Next comes concentration.
After that focused-awareness becomes meta and then transcendental.
That is if you’re patient enough.
What a beautiful archetype - the sage sitting under a tree patiently waiting for enlightenment of some sort.
You pull your awareness back from the external world and its sticky distractions.
You turn your awareness inward. You think a thought. You are the experiencer.
You become aware of your thought patterns. You see the repetitive tendencies of your mind. You are then the observer observing your experiences of thought.
You gain a meta-awareness of watching yourself while thinking the thought. Example: Man I’m really thinking hard about this or that thought.
But are you the voice in your head, or the one that listens to it?
Once you are both then you are starting to transcend duality. You become more than the thinker of the thoughts and the one who hears the voice. You are observing yourself as the observer.
All the while on the outside it looks you’re just sitting there totally zonked out.
Also I know cups are more indicative of emotions traditionally.
Don’t think emotions have been excluded, rather they are generally what sweeps you up into the thoughts right along with them as they course through the mind and body.
The layers of mind are fascinating. As are its flows.
Your subconscious mind wants what it thinks is best for you.
Parades of thought whoosh past the time it takes to get the emotions to cycle through the body.
And yet we still expect ourselves to process emotions as fast as thoughts.
Burning the mental calories can be an arduous task.
Unclench your jaw.
Yawn.
Find some textures to feel.
This week in Psychic Sleep we’ll touch on themes of: textures; degrees of focus; and observing observers.
