8 of Wands

This week’s Tarot-Draw is the Eight of Wands.

Where’s Lance?

Where is anybody?

Where are we in this image?

Are we holding the staff, perhaps more than one?

Or, are we obscured behind them?

The intent behind these staves would be easier to discern if we could see what’s just out of frame.

Sometimes we don’t get given the all the information…

Fighting the unknown and unavailable and the even more dreaded “unlabeled” sucks.

There’s a whole lot of assumptions accompanying this card.

Think back to when first looking at this fine display of wood.

Did your mind fill in the picture with an adversarial theme? Architectural? Agricultural?

So many juicy assumptions available as a base to populate with imagination.

Keep an open mind as you watch your idea factory start pumping out stories and filling up landscapes.

How does one open one’s mind - and a closed mind is closed to what?

Willingness. Giving yourself permission to not know.

Stay compassionate. Avoiding hurt is the driving force of many decisions.

Especially being hurt again in a way we feel we should have recognized and diverted,

Especially-especially avoiding being thwacked with 8 sticks.

Especially-especially-especially if those sticks are actually those Klingon pain sticks (painstik) that Worf had to be struck with on ST:TNG when he had to go thru that trial ritual thing (Rite of Ascension).

TL;DR Are the sticks in sight or in the way?

This week in Psychic Sleep we’ll touch on themes of: assumption; conjunction; and function.
